Preparation method
Preparation
Cut the bread into 2x2 cm cubes.
Scrape 2 teaspoons of vanilla from the vanilla pod.
Beat the eggs lightly.
Grease the cake tin.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Step 1: Prepare the bread mixture
Mix the bread with sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg.
Add the milk, lightly beaten eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, rose water and white rum to the bread mixture.
Mix well and then add 1 tbsp of butter.
Step 2: Apply the layers in the cake tin
Cover the greased cake tin with half of the bread mixture.
Add a layer of slivered almonds and raisins.
Fill with the other half of the bread mixture.
Step 3: Make the apple wine sauce
Cut the apple into thin slices.
Fry the apple wedges briefly in a saucepan
Add the rest of the apple wine sauce ingredients to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 1 minute.
Remove the apple slices from the sauce and set them aside.
Step 4: Cover and place in the Oven
Cover the top of the bread pudding with the baked apple wedges.
Bake the bread pudding for 10 minutes at 180 degrees.
Remove the bread pudding from the oven and top with the apple wine sauce.
Place it back in the oven and bake for another 20 minutes or until the bread pudding is lightly browned.
Step 5: Serve the bread pudding
The bread pudding is best served warm.
Carefully remove the cake from the cake tin and cut the cake into thick slices.
Drizzle some (unwhipped) whipped cream on top of the cake slices.
Enjoy your meal!
